2018 National Awareness 5K Run/Walk Ambassador

A message from Blaise

“I was officially diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome during my first year of high school and I had a really hard time accepting that this would be something I would deal with for the rest of my life.  Not only was it challenging for me, it was a learning experience for my entire family because we knew very little about TS.

When my tics are severe, people around me are often unsure of what is happening and ask what is wrong with me.  In 2017, I became a Tourette Association of America Youth Ambassador and I am so grateful for the experience and friendships it has brought me.  I have learned to educate others about Tourette Syndrome and it has helped me accept and handle the daily challenges I face.

Having a supportive network of family and friends has helped me tremendously.  I constantly rely on them for comfort and encouragement.  Tourette Syndrome is only a small part of my life and it does not define me as a person.  My dream is to become a pilot and having Tourette Syndrome is not going to stop me from living my life to the fullest.”
