Tourette Syndrome Behavior Therapy Institute (TS-BTI)
Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is a safe and effective treatment for Tourette and Tic Disorders. One challenge facing CBIT is that it requires specialized training and not enough providers are trained. The TAA’s behavioral Training Institute (BTI) was established as a way to increase the number and availability of providers trained in this treatment.
In the past year, the TAA has held 6 BTI’s in the United States and Canada, which has resulted in 100 new CBIT practitioners who will be available to our community through the TAA Behavior Therapy provider list. The TAA remains committed to the widespread dissemination of CBIT through our BTI Program and will look to expand even further in the coming year.
TAA BTIs are open to suitably qualified and licensed health care professionals including physicians, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and speech pathologists. The next TAA BTI is taking place in Mandeville, Louisiana on February 3-4, 2017.
