Tourette Association Annual Scientific Meeting

The Tourette Association of America will convene its annual scientific meeting on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Bethesda North Marriot Hotel & Conference Center in Rockville, MD. The meeting brings together the organization’s medical and scientific advisors, with other researchers and thought leaders from institutions within the US and overseas, to set the agenda for advancing research and development in Tourette syndrome. This annual event comprises 3 small meetings:

Medical Advisory Board Meeting

Chaired by Drs. Michael Okun (University of Florida) and Douglas Woods (Marquette University), members of the TAA MAB gather to provide updates on the state of the Tourette field and develop a consensus on priorities for care and treatment for the coming year.

Scientific Advisory Board Meeting

Chaired by Drs. Carol Mathews (University of Florida) and Peggy Nopoulos (University of Iowa), members of the TAA SAB convene to review and recommend grant applications to support cutting edge and promising research which we have supported since 1984.

Center of Excellence Meeting

In 2014, the TAA provided “Tourette Center of Excellence” designations to nine leading hospitals and academic institutions throughout the United States. The CofE program is rooted in providing the highest levels of Tourette Expertise in the areas of Clinical Care, Research, Training, and Advocacy. At this meeting, Center of Excellence Directors, coordinators, and other staff share their progress and set forth strategies to advance the TAA’s mission to make like better for people impacted by TS and Tic Disorders.
