Katrina Hermetet, PhD, NCSP

Vice President, Medical & Scientific Affairs

Dr. Katrina Hermetet, pediatric psychologist, proudly joins the Tourette Association as Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs. Dr. Hermetet has worked closely with the TAA during her tenure at Akron Children’s Hospital (Akron, Ohio), in which she was the clinical director of the Tic & Tourette Service, a TAA COE, and as a member of TAA Medical Advisory Board. In addition to leading both the Tic & Tourette Service and the School Success Clinic, an interdisciplinary service for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders, she was most recently the Division Chief of Neurobehavioral Health and a director of the Pediatric Psychology Fellowship.

Dr. Hermetet enjoys training and teaching, and has been a professor of School Psychology at Lehigh University and Pediatrics at NEOMED. She is a certified school psychologist and also certified in CBIT. She has presented both nationally and internationally on Tourette Syndrome, affirmative healthcare for gender diverse youth, Pediatric School Psychology, and Special Education Law. At Akron Children’s Hospital, she lead an active research lab developing a manualized group treatment intervention for adolescents with TS. She has previously participated in large-scale multi-site research projects in affiliation with the NICHD’s Pediatric HIV/AIDs Impact Study. She loves mentoring future clinicians and research-scholars in the fields of pediatric and school psychology interested in working with individuals impacted by TS, as well as developing large-scale community programming, such as TIC (Together In the Community) and annual awareness event that was attended by the TAA.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Hermetet finds joy in spending time with her four-year-old daughter, Raven, and her playful King Charles Cavalier, Moxie. She enjoys hiking, traveling, writing, and preserving her 100-year-old farmhouse and registered butterfly garden.

Dr. Hermetet is thrilled to embark on this new professional chapter with the TAA, an organization with whom she has shared a longstanding partnership in advancing clinical initiatives and research efforts for individuals impacted by TS. She looks forward to collaborating with the TAA team and contributing to its mission of support, advocacy, and education for the TS community.
