CBIT Training for Practitioners – Los Angeles, CA (UCLA)

In-Person Training for Practitioners on Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics CBIT) 

This training will be conducted in partnership with the TAA Center of Excellence at UCLA.

Continuing Education Credits are offered to MDs, Nurse Practitioners, PAs (Category I and DO’s Category II), social workers, psychologists, and counselors.

Through live didactic presentations, participants will first learn about Tourette Syndrome (TS), common co-occurring conditions and the general strategy for treating TS. In addition, the behavioral model on which CBIT is based will be reviewed. The various assessment tools used to gauge treatment progress will be described. In the afternoon, using didactic instruction, video, and live demonstration, participants will learn many of the core components of the CBIT treatment.

Participants must attend both days of training  

Day 1: Saturday, December 6, 2025, 8:30am – 5:00pm PST (8.5hrs) Full day training
Day 2: Sunday, December 7, 2025, 8:30am – 4:00pm PST (7.5hrs) Full day training   

Training Cost

Total cost is $899 (USD), payable upon registration. This fee includes training day, follow-up calls with TS-BTI faculty member, and all TAA resources and materials needed for completion of the training. 

Cancellation/Refund Policy

A $100 (USD) processing fee will be charged for cancellations made on or before (November 19, 2025). After this date, no refunds will be made. To cancel a registration, please submit your request in writing to CBIT@tourette.org.

John Piacentini

John Piacentini, Ph.D., ABPP

Dr. John Piacentini is Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Chief of Child Psychology (in Psychiatry) in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and UCLA Semel Institute where he directs the Center for Child Anxiety, Resilience, Education and Support (CARES), and the Child OCD, Anxiety and Tic Disorders Program, a TAA Center of Excellence.  Dr. Piacentini received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia and completed post-doctoral training and was a faculty member at NY State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University.  A board-certified clinical child and adolescent psychologist, his work focuses on the development and dissemination of science-based individual- and family-based treatments for youth with tic, OCD, anxiety, and body-focused repetitive behavior disorders. He has authored over 300 scientific publications, including seven books, and his research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, PCORI, IOCDF, TAA, TLC and other leading foundations and philanthropic organizations.  Dr. Piacentini is also SAB Chair for the TLC Foundation for BFRBs, and past-president of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and a founding fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.  He is a frequent lecturer and actively involved in training mental health practitioners how to treat youngsters with anxiety and similar problems.
