About this Workshop

This session will explore the emotional and mental health experiences that can accompany Tourette Syndrome and other Tic Disorders. Families will learn how to recognize signs of stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm while building supportive home environments that encourage communication, regulation, and resilience.

About the Education & Mental Health in Focus Series

Education & Mental Health in Focus is a multi-part learning showcase designed to support families, caregivers, students, and community members navigating the educational and emotional experiences connected to Tourette Syndrome and other Tic Disorders. This series brings together clinicians, advocates, educators, college students, and professionals to explore topics related to school accommodations, mental health support, transition planning, postsecondary education, and family wellbeing.  

Through practical discussions and lived experiences, participants will gain tools, resources, and strategies to better support children, teens, and young adults across different stages of their educational journey. Sessions will focus on advocacy, emotional wellbeing, navigating systems of support, and building confidence for both caregivers and students.

Dr. Christopher Jenson

Dr. Christopher Jenson proudly serves as a Senior Health Advisor for schools districts, universities, and community-based organizations. His experience stems from time as an emergency medicine physician, CDC science fellow (public health skills for schools / community settings), and an award winning educator in the tertiary and secondary space. 

Chris is passionate about scaling practical research to daily operations that enhance wellness and resilience in young people. Recent projects include addressing complex mental health challenges in school settings, embedding professional skills into learning operations, resilience programming for adolescents, and addressing systemic barriers to academic performance. 

Outside of school environments, Chris is proud to align with leaders in community-based organizations – helping them implement mental health and wellness initiatives for all ages, even when this was not their primary mission or content.
