This webinar will include an overview of the main federal laws that focus on preventing disability discrimination in employment and will discuss common questions about reasonable accommodations, disclosing disability to potential or current employers, and disability-based harassment or discrimination.

1. Identify the main federal laws relating to disability discrimination in employment contexts
2. Recognize situations where applicants or employees with disabilities may strategically advocate for their rights

Speakers:
Diana Felner, Tourette Association of America

Diana provides strategic direction for and ensures the implementation of the Tourette Association’s public policy activities. With 20 years of experience in government and regulatory affairs, she will advance the Tourette Association’s mission of awareness, research and support with the federal government and key stakeholders in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the Tourette Association, Diana served as Director of Government Affairs for Bunge North America, Inc. and Head, Federal Government Relations for Syngenta. In these roles, she served as a Washington representative for these global multi-national corporations. She began her government and regulatory affairs career working in various roles at CropLife America, a trade association representing the agricultural chemicals and plant biotechnology companies.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University.

Dan Stewart, NDRN

Dan Stewart joined NDRN in 2022 as the Managing Attorney for Education and Employment. In that role, he primarily provides education training/technical assistance to the Network and assists in overseeing training/technical assistance to CAP and PABSS work. Dan started with the Minnesota P&A (the Minnesota Disability Law Center) in 2006 and served as its Legal Director from 2019-2022. His disability rights specialties include education and VR/PABSS employment issues. He has presented at a wide range of local, regional and national conferences on a variety of disability justice topics and has litigated in administrative, state and federal tribunals, including the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. He has a B.A. in Social Thought and Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and an M.A. in Educational Policy, a J.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. His doctoral dissertation focused on school-based restraint and seclusion practices and he has authored or co-authored several academic publications.
