Training for Occupational Therapists

Saturday, August 24 & Sunday, August 25, 2024
Mandatory follow up session on Saturday, September 20, 2024

Online Training on Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for TicsThis training is open exclusively to providers in the Occupational Therapy profession.

This training was created to expand the number of Occupational Therapists competently trained in behavior therapy for Tourette Syndrome and other tic disorders. Through both pre- recorded and live didactic presentations, participants will first learn about TS, common co- morbidities, and the general strategy for treating TS. In addition, the behavioral model on which CBIT is based will be reviewed. The various assessment tools used to gauge treatment progress will be described. In the afternoon, using didactic instruction, video, and live demonstration, participants will learn many of the core components of the CBIT treatment.

Individuals participating in this training should be certified OTs who are licensed in their state. Occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) are welcome to attend. However, due to the nature of the mentorship and supervision, OTAs who attend the course must have a supervising OT who is currently trained in CBIT or is undergoing the CBIT training at the same time.

Important Note: All attendees are required to sign a Participant Memorandum of Understanding (PMU) and to send a copy of their professional license to Chantel Campbell Chantel.Campbell@tourette.org upon completion of registration. Please review the PMU document before registering.
