Elizabeth Barker joined the Tourette Association of America as the Director of Volunteer and Affiliate Services. Prior to this Liz worked with the American Red Cross as the Senior Disaster Program Manager. In that role she managed over 600 volunteers throughout Long Island and part of the Lower Hudson Valley. With this team she led hundreds of disasters large and small including the response to Tropical Storm Ida and Superstorm Sandy. She oversaw the merger of five chapters and increased outreach and responses to families by 70%. Liz’s experiences include working her with a myriad of populations, which has enabled her to be sensitive to the various needs of people in times of great stress. Liz has spoken at numerous conferences and workshops teaching others about effective volunteer team building and disaster preparedness.
Liz lives on Long Island and holds a BA in psychology from Flagler College and an Executive MBA from St. Joseph’s University.
