The Tourette Association of America (TAA) has created two comprehensive guides that serve as “tool kits” for diagnosing, treating, and living with Tourette Syndrome or another Tic Disorder. These resources were developed in collaboration and consultation with members of the TAA Medical and Scientific Advisory Boards and Center of Excellence Directors.
Managing Tourette & Tic Disorders: A Guide to Treatment for Care Providers
While medical professionals may have learned about Tourette Syndrome (TS) and other Tic Disorders during their professional training, TS and Tic Disorders are still misunderstood and under-recognized. This can lead to a delay in individuals receiving appropriate care. This guide is meant to equip health care providers with the necessary information to recognize TS and Tic Disorders in their practices so that they can provide accurate diagnoses, referrals, recommendations for appropriate treatments, and guidance regarding avenues for resources and support. Living with Tourette & Tic Disorders: A Guide for Patients and Families
A diagnosis of Tourette or another Tic Disorder can be overwhelming, confusing and stressful. This comprehensive resource aims to inform and serve as a guide along the journey of TS or another Tic Disorder. It provides an overview of diagnosis of and treatment for Tourette Syndrome and other Tic Disorders, and offers information about living with these neurological conditions. Download the whole kit at: tourette.org/patient-guide
Hard copies of both guides will be available and provided upon request at no cost in December 2016.
