The Baylor College of Medicine Parkinson’s Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic, Tourette Association of America Center of Excellence, is pleased to host a webinar series on Tourette Syndrome. The webinar series will be a 3-part series that sheds light on the educational, emotional and medical aspects of Tourette Syndrome.
Dr. Andrew Billnitzer, Movement Disorders Fellow, Baylor College of Medicine
Andrew Billnitzer completed a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Baylor University before going on to receive a Doctor of Medicine from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso. He completed a residency in Neurology at the Johns Hopkins hospital before returning to Texas to pursue further training in the field of movement disorders at the Baylor College of Medicine. Working under Dr. Joseph Jankovic at Baylor he was involved in several clinical trials for novel treatments in Tourette syndrome. He hopes to continue to educate others and further advance research in the field of Tourette syndrome moving forward. He is continuing to serve patients at the Houston Methodist Hospital movement disorders clinic.
The Medical Aspects of Tourette Syndrome
During the webinar, participants will hear from Dr. Andrew Billnitzer as he reviews medical aspects of Tourette Syndrome; its natural course, common co-occurring conditions often associated and the various treatment options available. Participants will leave the webinar with a better understanding of tics and how TS is diagnosed.
Dr. Suzanne Mouton-Odum, Assistant Professor, Baylor College of Medicine
Dr. Mouton-Odum is the Founder and Director of Psychology Houston, PC, The Center for Cognitive Behavioral Treatment. Dr. Mouton-Odum, Co-Founder of the Houston Area Behavioral Institute for Tourette (HABIT) Clinic, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and is the President of PsycTech, LLC., Technology for Psychology. She has practiced psychology for over 25 years in the Houston area and has extensive experience conducting cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT) for children, adolescents, and adults, psychological assessment, and evidence-based psychological treatments. Dr. Mouton-Odum is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the TLC Foundation for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors and Past President of both the Texas Psychological Foundation and the Houston Psychological Association. She has published numerous scientific journal articles, presents both internationally and at national conferences, and is coauthor of five books for the general public: A Parent Guide to Hair Pulling Disorder, Out of the Rabbit Hole: A Road Map to Freedom from OCD, Psychological Interventions for Children with Sensory Dysregulation, and Helping Your Child with Sensory Regulation.
