BAYSIDE, NY – January 2, 2024: The Tourette Association of America released the following statement in reaction to the announcement made on December 31, 2023, by Lewis Capaldi, international star musician and advocate for those living with Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders:
The Tourette Association of America (TAA) is so excited to hear Lewis Capaldi report that the time he has spent focusing on his health since taking a break from performing in June of 2023 has brought a marked improvement in the management of his Tourette Syndrome and anxiety issues. We celebrate his message and the release of his new music as an expansion of his second album.
As a nonprofit organization focused on supporting and advocating for those living with Tourette Syndrome, other Tic Disorders, and co-occurring conditions, the TAA regularly witnesses the transformational impact brought by members of our community taking the time and space to focus on their health. The TAA encourages everyone living with these conditions to work closely with their doctors and medical professionals to improve the management of their tics and their quality of life.
While the TAA was saddened to learn that Lewis would be taking a break, it was an important moment for the world to see the serious physical and mental toll experienced by people living with Tourette Syndrome, other Tic Disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
