TAA School Education Video Series


The TAA school education videos (below) are designed to meet the needs of schools and school districts seeking knowledge of TS, co-occurring conditions, and school accommodations for students with TS or another Tic Disorder. 

If you are interested, the TAA can provide a 20–30-minute question and answer session to anyone or any group of people completing the videos. Please contact programs@tourette.org to arrange the Q&A.

ACCESS INFORMATION: To view the videos on this page, click the button below and complete the brief informational form. You will then be given a password, which you will enter on each video below when you’re ready to watch. The password is the same for all six videos.

It is suggested that you begin with the three videos in Part 1 and then advance to the videos in Part 2. If you have already completed a TAA virtual or in-person school presentation, you can skip Part 1 and head straight to Part 2.

Instructions for Obtaining Continuing Education (CEUs) for Part 1 Videos

To receive continuing education (CE) for WD4563-090123-TAA School Professional Development Videos please visit CDC TRAIN and search for the course in the Course Catalog using WD4563-090123. Follow the steps below by September 1, 2025.

1. Register for and complete the course.
2. Pass the post-assessment at 80%.
3. Complete the evaluation.
4. Visit Your Learning to access your certificates and transcript.

FEES: No fees are charged for CDC CE activities.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  
The TAA School Education Video series is designed to meet the needs of schools and school districts seeking knowledge of Tourette Syndrome and accommodating students with Tourette. The videos are designed to reach more schools and districts and provide knowledge of Tourette, conditions that co-occur with Tourette and possible school accommodations for students with Tourette and tic disorders. The TAA will offer a 20–30-minute question and answer session to anyone or any group of people completing the videos. 

OBJECTIVES: 
At the conclusion of the session, the participant should be able to: 

  1. Explain the educational impact of tics 
  2. Describe conditions that commonly co-occur with Tourette Syndrome  
  3. Recognize symptoms of tics and co-occurring conditions 
  4.   Plan accommodations that can be used to help students with Tourette 

Sub Objectives  

Video 4: Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans 

  1. Learn when and why a student with Tourette Syndrome (TS) would need a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) 
  2.  Understand what might be important in a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) for those with TS 
  3. Learn about training for Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) 

Video 5: Managing Coprophenomena in the School Environment 

  1. Learn about coprolalia and copropraxia. 
  2. Examine the impact of coprolalia and copropraxia on students, teachers, and peers.  
  3. Learn about accommodating and supporting students with Tourette and coprophenomena. 

Video 6: School Accommodations for Students with Tourette Syndrome 

  1. Learn about school accommodations available for students with Tourette Syndrome. 
  2. Learn about social and emotional concerns for students with Tourette Syndrome. 
  3. Learn about developing accommodations, 504s, IEPs for conditions that commonly co-occur with Tourette (i.e., anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and learning disabilities).
