This presentation, in cooperation with PACER, will cover bullying dynamics (in face-to-face bullying as well as cyberbullying), being an effective advocate for youth with disabilities while promoting self-advocacy in youth, resources for effective communication with the school, and the role of prosocial behaviors in bullying prevention. There will be an emphasis on creating healthier communities (prevention) as well as handling a bullying situation (intervention).
Audience – parents and educators
Adults will receive information on
- the latest research on bullying dynamics
- how to effectively advocate for a child with disabilities
- how to foster self-advocacy in youth
- the role of positive social behaviors in creating healthier communities
- research-based resources
Presenter Judy French
Judy French staffs the Los Angeles office of the National Bullying Prevention Center, where she coordinates outreach and gives presentations, webinars, and workshops to schools, health organizations, and other community groups. Her speaking engagements have reached approximately 30,000 students, parents, educators, & community leaders throughout Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange counties, and beyond. She has facilitated and presented workshops for many years throughout the country on communications skills, conflict resolution, relationship building, leadership, and self-advocacy.
