LEARN MORE ABOUT TOURETTE SYNDROME AND TIC DISORDERS 2.png

Parents and students with Tourette Syndrome and co-occurring conditions may benefit from a 504 plan or an IEP (Individualized Education Program). 504 plans can support a child attending elementary or secondary education in that the child receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment.  IEPs will ensure that a child in elementary or secondary school receives specialized instruction and related services, such as resource room, consultant teacher, or a speech language pathologist.

The process can seem daunting for families and caregivers, whether they have experience in special education or not. There are many terms and acronyms associated with the special education process.

Please use the resources on this page to look up terms and acronyms that may be associated with the special education process in your school district or state and learn more about 504s and IEPs.

The TAA also offers in-service education for school professionals as well as peer presentations from our TAA Youth Ambassadors. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information.
